Leadership - Example and Self Improvement

LEADING BY EXAMPLE

Leaders must demonstrate spirit and function as role models, never relaxing standards. They must always apply a positive approach when working with students; it is not permissible to complain or argue. Leaders must work harder than everyone else, set an example in every aspect of the band's operation, and never expect anything from band members that they do not demand of themselves.

SELF IMPROVEMENT

People who are admired by others usually have many positive qualities. A leader must be the kind of person that others revere. Good leaders make self-improvement an ongoing process, continually assessing their weaknesses and working hard to strengthen them. Through this change they can alter how others perceive them. Remember, no one is perfect; there is always room for improvement.
