The F. arts

It has always been a constant battle with the Fine arts department about who is this best. Don't you think its kinda stupid?

Choir... theater... orchestra... band... we all have alot in common and then we are all different too. But, why is there such rivalry between us? All we want is to keep the fine arts alive. We have a love of music, we have a love of talent, and a love of art. With those same passions, wouldn't we bond together rather then reject and fight one with another? The whole thing is stupid if you ask me. What do we fight about? How are we different?

The choir sings. So what? They make a BIG deal out of it. Well, we have some news for them!! We can sing too! They are in denial about it because singing is what they do, unfortunately, it is all they can do... That does not mean we can't all get along right?

The theater acts. They do not feel music is very important. It is something we do for them. We really are working as a team with the theater by bringing music to their plays. They do not understand this, but possibly some day when they grow up *cough* they will appreciate our music more.

The orchestra plays. They do the same things we do. They play the same sort of music, just with different instruments. I begin to see the stupidity in this when I see that we are not different at all... The world may never know. Someday, if they ever get out of high school, they will not just be playing with the strings, they will be playing with our "kind" too. They may look back and wonder why they never got along with us in the first place. Perhaps, they are just jealous because we can play in tune together, well, most of the time anyway.

Is our rivalry just for fun? 30 years from now will it matter? Will we care? Do we enjoy strutting our talents? We all need to realize we actually help eachother out. And like the old saying goes... "Can't we all just get along?"

They all know that they need band. Without us, they are nothing. Well, they are something, just not as cool...
