INTRO
Yeah, everyone has their share of band dreams (I think) But I've decided to list a few that I can remember. I think the list will get longer as marching season gets closer and closer. I've thought of clever titles for all my dreams too. At least, I tried to.
A TIGHT Situation
So I was just arriving on time (which means late) for a band concert when I looked down and realized I had forgotten my tights. I knew I was going to be really late so I asked my dad if he could bring me back some. Miraculously, he did all that in like 2 seconds so I wasn't going to be late. But then I looked at the tights he had brought me and they were tie dye tights. (weird, huh?) Anyway, I knew there was no chance of me being on time now. Then I woke up with my heart pumping like a wild thing.
A Not-So Mello Evening
So it's the first football game of the season. We're playing in the stands and all of a sudden I realized that I didn't have my mello. In fact, I had forgotten to check one out. Luckily, Jacob's out there on the field doing some wacko dance thing so I borrowed his mello. Then I realized I didn't know the music so I had to just guess at the notes. Mr. Myers was sitting right infront of me and he kept giving me these weird looks since I was playing everything wrong. Then it was half time and I guess the band was allowed to just walk around for some reason cuz all of a sudden I was outside the bleachers. I saw my non-band friend Aubrey out there and I was like, "Aubrey, I forgot to check out a mello. I know where they store them but I'm too scared to get one cuz I'll be late getting back to the stands." Then Aubrey was like, "Girl, we'll get you a mello. No friend of mine is going without an instrument Ok?" So we went to where they store them. It was like the portables at Gibson Elementary by the ramp. (for those cool people who attended there) We went inside one of the portables and climbed over a cabinet. Above the cabinet was a little cupboard. I opened it and all that was left in there were French Horns. All of them were falling out of their cases too. To my despair, there were no mellos there. Then, all of a sudden I was in the front of the stands. I was late getting back to the stands as I predicted and I was super scared of getting spotted. Luckily all the teachers were talking and I snuck up to the top of the bleachers where all the flutes sit. I took a seat behind Sara and asked her what I should do since I didn't have a mello. Before she could answer, I woke up.
A Brother Conductor
It all started when I was just arriving at some theater the bad was playing at. My brother, Jordan, a band alumnus, was dropping off my sister and me. My sister was dressed in her tuxedo from Greenspun's orchestra because she thought that the orchestra was playing too, but they weren't. Anyway, I arrived late but for some reason it was okay that I was late. I guess the time was a little more relaxed at this event. The weird thing was that we weren't playing on the stage of the theater we were playing squished to the side of the aisle. Anyway, I was looking around for my seat and luckily Heather Campbell had gotten my stand, horn and chair ready so I just took my seat next to her. It was weird because the horns were sitting on the right side of the front row where the flutes usually sit. Luckily, I sat on the very end so it was easy to get to my seat. Everything we were performing we were sightreading and the weird thing was Ms K wasn't conducting. My brother was. Then one of the songs came up and my brother leaned over and said to the band, "You guys should know this one." And then somehow everyone knew what song he was talking about and then a guest conductor started the song. Well, I didn't know what song Jordan was talking about until the band started playing it and I recoginized it. So I started looking for it in my folder. It took a long time to find because I had one of those poop stands that slowly fall when you touch it. But I eventually found the music. But then I didn't know where we were in the music. I kept trying to see the conductor for any clues as to our loaction but he was behind this pole and I couldn't see him. Then, the song ended and someone told us to go back to the locker rooms and change to are marching band uniforms as fast as we could and then come back out and line up in rows of ten. So everyone went back to the locker rooms and started changing as fast as lightning... except for me. All I had left to do was tie my shoes but for some reason my fingers wouldn't do it. Everyone had left the room except for me and a couple of flute players. They were both ready but wouldn't go outside so I was like, "Why won't you guys go outside." They just stated that they didn't need to go outside until later. Well, I was ready and I wasn't going to waste any time so I got my mello and my lyre. But then I realized I had one of the flute lyres that go around your arm and that wouldn't work for a mello. So, I had to take it apart so that it would fit in the jacket pocket but it wouldn't fit. Then, I woke up.
A Pee-Mergency
It all started off at a basketball game. The whole band was involved in some sort of band basketball game. I was playing and I really had to go to the bathroom. I didn't want to go though because I was in the middle of the game. Finally, it was half time so I ran to the bathroom. None of the stalls had doors though, but I had to go so bad I really didn't care. Then, I woke up, but I really did have to go to the bathroom.
A Super Blackout
Well, this one really isn't a band dream pursue, but it involves a band person. Well, you know that big power outage that's going on right now? Well I dreamed that it was happening in Las Vegas. Everyone was trying to run to another city that had electricity. Barely anyone was driving away. We all had to run for some reason. So I was running with my family on the freeway and I saw Anni. And I ran next to her and kept saying her name but she wouldn't turn around. I remember she was wearing black shorts and white T-Shirt that we had to wear to the pancake breakfast. Anyway, then all of a sudden my brother was like, "We gotta wait for mom" so I stopped trying to get Anni's attention and waited for my mom. Then my mom came around the corner and my sister started to cry. Then, I woke up.
Jon's Not My Mother?!?
So I was in the band room and I was like, "Diane, I have to tell you my dream." So I started telling her about this dream. Which was really weird because it really was a dream I had had earlier that night. Anyways, I grapped my flute, yes, my flute, and Diane and I started walking to the field for rehearsal. We were doing our stretches when all of a sudden I realized I had my flute not my mello. So I was like, "Diane, what should I do? I left my mello in the band room and took my flute out instead." So she was like, "Well, just ask Jon to go back to the band room and get your mello for you." And I was like, "I can't. He'll tell me he's not my mother!" Then I woke up.
